I have been lucky enough to be apart of the Quinte Waste Solutions Communications team for the last two summers and as September gets closer I am able to reflect on all of the excitement over the past few months.
I was given the opportunity to plan and implement Quinte Waste Solutions first ever Respect the Collect campaign in July and after getting positive feedback from about 100 residents we felt the campaign was a huge success. This campaign gave me the chance to work closely with our HCG drivers as well as residents from all of our municipalities. We were able to attend the Belleville Seniors Fair, the A.C.E in Stirling and the Hastings County Farm Show and Plowing Match in Trenton where we got the chance to promote proper recycling habits. We gave fun and engaging recycling presentations to a couple of summer camps and got kids “in the know” about what happens to their recycling.
Last summer a new website was launched, and this summer we added a virtual tour to the recycling facility and the hazardous waste depot to give residents the chance to see a behind the scenes look of how our facilities operate.
This summer has been a summer of appreciation. Appreciation to the drivers for working in all conditions and doing such a dangerous job with a smile on their face everyday. But also appreciation to the residents who do an amazing job following the recycling standards. We took to the streets this summer to check on how residents of some local municipalities were putting their blue boxes out. While doing this we handed out thank you cards to those doing an exceptional job being super sorters.
I have appreciated the opportunity to work here and being able to work so closely with the residents of the municipalities serviced by Quinte Waste Solutions. It has been an awesome couple of summers!
